Rapid Needs Assessment on Rodent Crisis in Sajek

Duration: 4-10 September 2025

Objectives:

  • Ensure immediate food security for the most vulnerable affected households in Sajek Union through  campaign for emergency assistance.

  • Stabilize livelihoods and household income by providing urgent cash support and preventing negative coping mechanisms (e.g., debt, migration, asset sales).

  • Support recovery and resilience of jhum-farming communities by supplying seeds and agricultural inputs for the next cultivation cycle.

  • Strengthen community preparedness for recurrent rodent infestations and related food insecurity in the Chittagong Hill Tracts.

Key Activities:

  • Campaign for resource mobilization

  • Distribute emergency food packages to affected households.

  • Provide multi-purpose cash grants for essential needs and income stability.

  • Supply seeds and agricultural inputs for jhum cultivation and establish local seed banks.

  • Engage community leaders and local organizations in implementation and monitoring.

  • Promote awareness on rodent crisis preparedness and adaptive farming practices.
