Zabarang Kalyan Samity (Zabarang) is a local Non-Government Organization in Khagrachhari Hill District. Zabarang is an organization that promotes human resource management and development through a fair and transparent recruitment process for its entire talent lifecycle. Now, Zabarang invites applications from dynamic and qualified candidates for the vacant posts.

1. Position: Project Officer (PO)- 02 positions

Vacancy with job location: 2 (1 position based in Panchari will be recruited from Chakma language ethnic community and another 1 position based in Khagrachhari Sadar and Mohalchari will be recruited from Kokborok or Marma language community.)

Responsible to: Project Coordinator (PC)
Responsible for: Field Facilitator (FF)
Job Dimensions: Based at field Office with minimum 70% field visit.
Remuneration: BDT 17,600.00- BDT 18,480.00 per month.
Job Duration: From joining date to 31 December 2021 with possibility of extension.

Job Context: Zabarang with the support of Manusher Jonno Foundation, has been implementing SETU-MLE (Mainstreaming Ethnic Children’s Education through MTBMLE) project to contribute achieving quality primary education for ethnic children from hard-to-reach areas in Khagrachhari Hill Tracts. The SETU-MLE project is to attain expected learning outcomes and competencies through increasing desired competences among pre-primary and primary school children in SETU-MLE- supported schools in the selected upazillas of Khagrachari Hill District. The SETU-MLE project is currently working with 35 Primary Schools from Panchhari, Khagrachhari Sadar and Mohalchhari Upazilla and addressing three ethnic languages Chakma, Marma and Kokborok.

Main Purpose of the Job:
The Project Officer will be responsible for the implementation of project activities at field level under the guidance of Project Coordinator. He/she will lead implementation of project activities to achieve the targeted deliverables at field level. S/he will also be responsible to review and provide field level activities. She/he will coordinate with all the field level stakeholders including government agencies.

Required qualification and experience:

  • Bachelor Degree from any discipline;
  • Minimum 3 years professional experience in development field. The candidates with experience in education field will be given priority;
  • Demonstrate skills on report writing and participatory planning;
  • Skills on maintaining liaison with relevant actors such as Upazila administration, Upazila education officials, School teachers, SMC and local community;
  • Fluent in Bangla and any of the specific ethnic language (Chakma/Marma/Kokborok). Skills on reading and writing in mother tongue will be given preference;
  • Must have good computer skills on MS office
  • Excellent motivational skills and the ability to adapt to changing priorities;
  • Sound knowledge on child safeguarding policy;
  • Good understanding on the CHT context as well as a comprehensive understanding of the challenges faced in the education sector;
  • Excellent communication skills dealing with community level stakeholders and other counterparts.

Job Responsibilities:

  • To work closely with Upazila level stakeholders, community leaders, build a relationship with them and motivate them to get involved in education activities
  • To support Field Facilitators in their field-based activities so that s/he can serve the school communities, SMCs and Mother Groups
  • To conduct Upazila based monitoring and evaluation process
  • To support the provision of quality and inclusive education, including learning in mother tongues in the schools
  • To identify the training needs of SMCs, Mother Groups and teachers and to organize workshops and trainings as appropriate
  • To monitor project activities and report progress regularly to Project Coordinator based on the set monitoring framework
  • To work closely with Upazila level government line departments and duty bearers in the field
  • To identify opportunities for partnership working knowledge transfer and good practice at Upazila level
  • To participate in preparing of the action plan at the begging of each year for all approved planned activities for the project identifying staff responsibilities and financial resources
  • To ensure the awareness to the protection of children from any hazardous condition they may encounter.

2. Position: Program Office Cum Trainer (POCT), Female- 01 position

Vacancy with job location: 1 (based in head office at Khagrachhari Sadar)
Responsible to: Project Coordinator (PC)
Responsible for: Program Facilitator (FF)
Job Dimensions: Based at field Office with minimum 70% field visit.
Remuneration: BDT 23,000.00 per month consolidated amount.
Job Duration: 6 months (will be effective from the joining date up to December 2021)

Job Context: Zabarang in collaboration with Bangladesh Nari Progati Sangha (BNPS) and Simavi International has been implementing the OLHF (Our Lives our Health our Futures) project to Promote Gender Equality and Women’s and Girts’ Empowerment in the Chittagong Hill Tracts. The project aims to empower women and adolescents by enhancing the technical, strategic, financial and administrative skills of local development agencies and ensuring their right to make independent decisions about their lives, including reproductive health, prevention of violence and elimination of discrimination.

Main Purpose of the Job:
The Program Officer cum Trainer (POCT) will be responsible for program organizing, facilitating training and building capacity of the Program Facilitators, Female Mentors and CSOs. She will work under the direct supervision of Project Coordinator. The POCT will facilitate and engage young women and adolescent girls, community leaders and stakeholders in the project area. She will prepare implementation plans and guidelines and will monitor the quality of community engagement, provide capacity building training, report writing and facilitate awareness sessions as planned.

Required qualification and experience:

  • Bachelor Degree from any discipline;
  • Minimum 2 years professional experience in development field. The candidates with experience in SRHR, MHM, GBV and WASH field will be considered as special quality. Working experience can be made flexible for the Masters Degree holder candidates;
  • Candidate with ToT will be given priority;
  • Demonstrate skills on conducting training, writing training report, developing training content and training module;
  • Skills on maintaining liaison with relevant actors such as Civil Surgeon, Upazila Family Planning Office, Upazila Health and Family Planning office, traditional leaders, elected leaders and local community;
  • Excellent communication skills, good spoken and writing of concise training reports in English.
  • Excellent computer skills: MS Word, Excel, Power-point;
  • Language Preference: English, Bangla and local language (Chakma/Marma/Kokborok).
  • Excellent motivational skills and the ability to adapt to changing priorities;
  • Sound knowledge on sexual and reproductive health and rights, gender based violence, menstrual hygiene management;
  • Good understanding on the CHT context;

Job Responsibilities:

  • Supervise Program Facilitators to engage project activities to support project requirements for participatory and inclusive involvement of all actors and stakeholders in GBV prevention, realization of SRHR and MHM/ Gender sensitive WASH facilities;
  • Facilitate trainings, awareness sessions, meeting, workshops, dialogue etc. at both union and upazila levels and evaluate trainings in collaboration with CSOs;
  • Develop training schedules and plans and budget breakdown for specific training events;
  • Maintain coordination and communication with all relevant stakeholders to ensure the quality of community engagement across all activities;
  • Coordinate to document community engagement activities, coordination meetings and other activities related to the project. Support the monitoring and collecting feedback for beneficiaries/stakeholders on the project to inform project implementation;
  • Develop work plans and reports of activity progress;
  • Provides weekly, monthly and periodic project reports for the tasks and activities. Prepare financial requisition following project budget lines and submit accordingly to the management;

Remuneration: BDT 16,000.00- BDT 19,448.00 per month.
Job Duration: From the joining date to December 2023

  • Field visit to girls club, community leaders and other stakeholders in local level;
  • Maintain coordination and communication with all local relevant stakeholders of community level to ensure the quality of community engagement across all activities.
  • Coordinate to document community engagement activities, coordination meetings and other activities in the field related to the project.
